Who am I
Hello, my name is Bernardo Castaño. First of all, thank you for taking the time to get to know my story and for accompanying me in what is yet to come.
I’m 30 years old and passionate about the arts. I studied Architecture for four years at the University of Buenos Aires, and for more than nine years I’ve been dedicated to tattooing. I specialize in Handpoke, an ancestral, fully manual technique done point by point.
I am the co-founder of Buenaventura, a private tattoo studio that I share with my brother, another great artist. I’m always exploring new techniques and visual languages; for me, creating is a vital need—regardless of the discipline—as long as it allows me to express myself.
I have also studied sculpture with professor and artist Sara Mansilla, and I paint in oil in the workshop of my friend Inés Ayerza, guided and accompanied by Martín Prado, who helps me develop my work.
I am currently working on a series of oil paintings called “The Shadows of the Subconscious.” In it, I aim to represent those inner images we all carry within us and that, for various reasons or social stigmas, we tend to avoid. My intention is to convey deep, personal sensations, leaving each piece open to interpretation by whoever observes it.
I believe that connecting with our dark side allows us to appreciate our light even more. It’s not about running from it, but recognizing it as an essential part of our balance—like yin and yang, which exist because of one another.
I am grateful for life giving me the tools and the opportunity to create and express what I feel. I hope you enjoy my work and that, in some way, you can feel part of it.
Thank you for your time.
Blessings to all.
